About Keystone Physicians Direct Primary Care
Keystone Physicians is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) healthcare provider supporting patients in the Pittsburgh region. Our focus is on treating the whole patient, implementing a proactive approach to illness prevention by building healthy habits and lifestyle choices that can be sustained throughout a patient’s life. This includes a focus on nutrition, exercise, stress management, and community support alongside medical intervention and medications.
At Keystone Physicians, we put patients at the center of their healthcare decisions. You are the expert of your own life and needs, and we are here to bring medical expertise to best support your unique experiences. Above all else, we prioritize building a strong patient-physician relationship. We believe that this relationship and trust is the keystone for quality care, so you can be supported in making more informed and customized healthcare decisions in every phase of life.
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is the practice of medicine that puts the patient-physician relationship at the center of care. It fosters a deeper connection between the patient and their physician, leading to more customized and sustainable care throughout each phase of a patient’s life. DPC physicians work with fewer patients at a time, allowing each individual patient greater access to their physician to answer questions, address challenges, and receive quality care. This means you are often able to receive an answer or make an appointment the same day or the very next day. Working with a DPC physician, patients receive individualized, secure, and private care to solve chronic health challenges and build healthier patterns that support their current and future lifestyles.
About Dr. Anna Owen, M.D
Dr. Anna Owen is the founder of Keystone Physicians, building this practice after a lifetime of passion for medicine. She is a board-eligible physician focused on building deep relationships with patients to improve their medical outcomes and overall quality of life.
After graduating from University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, she took a gap year before starting medical school to gain first-hand experience working with patients. During this time, she worked as a nursing assistant at Allegheny General Hospital in the neuro-step down unit where she provided direct patient care as part of the medical team. Following this year as a nursing assistant, Dr. Owen attended Drexel University College of Medicine, where she graduated with her M.D. in 2022.
While at Drexel, Dr. Owen gravitated toward family medicine because this field of practice gives doctors a unique opportunity to collaborate with patients across each phase of their lives. This ultimately led Dr. Owen back to the Pittsburgh area for her residency in family medicine. In July 2025, Dr. Owen will graduate from her residency program at Forbes Family Medicine at Allegheny Health Network in Monroeville, PA. Additionally, she is currently completing the curriculum for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine to deepen her knowledge of lifestyle medicine and better support her current and future patients, with an expected board certification date in Fall 2025.
When Dr. Owen is not practicing medicine, you can find her in her garden growing vegetables and flowers, spending time with her three cats, and cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams.
